The Rise of Cosmetic Procedures

In the last few years, the demand for cosmetic procedures has been consistently rising. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (The BAAPS) recorded 31,057 cosmetic procedures having taken place in 2022, up 102% from the previous year. With technological advancements facilitating the scope of treatment and precision of the procedure, competition in the industry is fierce.

An increasingly popular concern amongst men and women centres around the eyes and eyelids. Individuals often see the emergence of wrinkles and puffiness around the eyes, or find heavier shadows, “bags”, developing due to the thinning of skin and loss of elasticity. Although often caused by the natural processes of ageing or, in many other cases, due to stress and fatigue, these changes can sometimes cause the face to look depressed and sunken; results that many individuals find disconcerting.

Despite being a natural process, mainstream society consistently recognises that this can be a source of insecurity and damage self-confidence. From at-home skincare remedies to makeup, the beauty landscape continues to try carve out new paths to tackle these self-doubts.

Aesthetic Solutions

Consequently, blepharoplasty, otherwise known as eyelid surgery, has been one of the surgical procedures to see a 74% increase in 2022 (BAAPS). These treatments, an upper-eyelid reduction or a lower-eyelid reduction, occurs under anaesthetic and works to reduce wrinkles or puffiness by making incisions to the skin and removing excess skin, fat, and sagging muscle.

Similarly, an injectable solution, tear trough fillers, has grown in popularity. The hyaluronic acid gel containing hyaluronic acid injected into the area works to boost collagen production and replace lost volume. In the last 30 days, searches for “tear trough fillers” have increased 300%, meanwhile “undereye fillers” reached 8.5 million views on TikTok.

However, both procedures are expensive and have differing results that can sometimes be impractical and inconvenient. Whilst blepharoplasty is permanent, it is an intrusive procedure involving the patient undergoing anaesthetic and enduring incisions to the skin. Likewise, the result of fillers is temporary, normally lasting only 12-18 months before needing another round.

Introducing SuneKOS® Peforma

What is SuneKOS?

SuneKOS® is part of a new category of injectables known as Skin Regenerators”. These injectables evoke skin cell memory and, effectively, reset the skin and remind it how it used to perform optimally.

Harnessing the power of an Amino-Acid based HY6AA formula in combination with hyaluronic acid, SuneKOS® Peforma stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin. As components of the Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM), they are responsible for skin structure, strength, and elasticity. Thus, the increased presence and restoration of such fibres regenerates the skin and lessens the signs of ageing.

Performa by SuneKOS® is unique in that it is the only aesthetic treatment which can produce physiological amounts of collagen and elastin. In other words, it can replicate the same ratio of collagen to elastin that we have in our own skin. SuneKOS® is, therefore, the only product clinically proven to reproduce collagen types 4 and 7, both of which are key components in preserving the skin’s elasticity.

“Collagen type 4 is crucial because it gives us that anchor to the loose tissues. Very few products give this stimulation of collagen type 4”, explains Dr Mark Holmes, SuneKOS® Global Opinion Leader. “By restoring the ECM with SuneKOS® we can counteract this process”.

SuneKOS Results

SuneKOS® Peforma’s pioneering technique produces long-lasting results. Alternative aesthetic procedures need regular forms of upkeep to maintain the quality of results (inevitably coming at a hefty price).

When combining a concentration of low molecular weight hyaluronic acids (HA) with hydrophobic amino acids, the breakdown of HA is slowed. The increased HA permanence at the injection site allows prolonged HA action and stimulation of the receptors. This decreases the skin cells’ degradation rate by 40% and generating the highly desirable, durable results.

“The presence of the patented combination of the HY6AA formula in a new specific concentration decreases by 40% the degradation process of the Hyaluronidase activity”, asserts Dr Holmes. “We are getting a deep and superficial hydration, which is maintained up to 6 months after the end of the treatment session”.

SuneKOS® Performa is available nationwide.
