Everyone’s talking about the latest alternative to lip fillers, the lip flip. But what exactly is it? And where can you get it? The demand for subtle, personalised aesthetic treatments is rising as clients strive towards the fresh faced “I woke up like this” look. Part of this trend is the Botox Lip Lift Treatment.
Rather than overloading patients with lip filler, Suzi Noble, Head Aesthetic Nurse at the Karidis Clinic in London, is a big fan of the “lip flip,” a Botox treatment that helps relax the top lip and “flip” it out, revealing a less gummy smile, enhancing the natural shape of the lips without adding extra volume.
“When injecting Botox into a specific muscle, the effect is that the targeted muscle relaxes. Using Botox to perform this treatment can help relax a very small area of the orbicularis oris muscle (the muscle that surrounds the lips) which can allow the lip to flip upwards, creating a poutier look.” Says Noble
“You can do the same with the muscle responsible for the gummy smile,” Noble adds. If you are working with lips that already have volume, we can flip the lip up to make it more visible. Botox is injected in extremely small quantities around the corners of the mouth and near the cupid’s bow, creating the illusion of fuller, poutier lips, without fillers.
All lips are different and sometimes a combination of fillers and Botox is necessary. “If the lips don’t have much volume to start with or the client is concerned about the vertical lines that run across the top lip, also known as barcode lines, then I use Belotero Contour an HA product that can create more definition and Philtrum ‘flick’ in order to enhance the area and give a natural appearance without volumising the lip.
The Lip Flip starts from £245, a cost-effective approach to lip enhancement, and with minimal downtime, too. Typically, the results tend to kick in 5-7 days after your treatment, just like regular Botox. karidis.co.uk
